It was a time of war and invasion that the nation we know today as Great Britain had to face. Anyway, like all European Countries, all the struggles they suffered a long its history helped them to become the nation they are today. The invasions made by Anglos, Saxons, Jutes, Vikings, Normans, French, Scandinavian, Romans, and others not just left many traces in English architecture, culture, and language. People also changed a lot because of the mixture. All invaders influenced the whole nation, but Latin was the language of the church. Remember the power exercised by the Roman Empire throughout Europe. Only until King Henry VIII broke relations with Rome established the Anglican church, headed by the king and not the pope. In such a way, Roma, the catholic church left to influence the English power in a certain way in 1534.
